An affiliated agency of the Economic Development Corporation of Erie County, the Greater Erie Industrial Development Corporation (GEIDC) is a private non-profit 501(c) 6 industrial development corporation, whose primary function is to acquire raw land for the development of industrial parks, as well as acquiring and/or constructing buildings to facilitate industrial growth and expansion in Erie County. Within the past three years alone, GEIDC has administered and/or acted as project developer for almost $20 million in state and federal grants for a number of projects, including the former Kaiser Aluminum site, the former International Paper site, and the development of two urban brownfield industrial parks. Since the Pennsylvania Land Recycling Act was established in 1995, GEIDC has completed 11 brownfield redevelopment projects in Erie County forging strong relationships with regulatory entities resulting in community revitalization and job creation.
